Getting to Ait Ben Haddou. The historic ksar (fortified village) located in the foothills on the southern slopes of the High Atlas in the Province of Ouarzazate. It’s a striking example of southern Moroccan architecture; and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. The Kasbah is a group of earthen buildings surrounded by high walls, which is a traditional pre-Saharan habitat. The houses are crowded together within the defensive walls, which are reinforced by corner towers. Ait Ben Haddou was once a major stop along the caravan route between Marrakech and the Sahara.

Today, it is a popular tourist destination where visitors can explore the beautiful mud city and some of the old houses from the inside. After visiting the Kasbah and get your lunch, You will drive back to Marrakech. Few stops on the way as much as the daylight allows you. Get to Marrakech late afternoon.

The Marrakech to Ait Ben Haddou trip ends.

(Ait Ben Haddou. Is a fortified village or ksar located in Morocco, and its history dates back to the 11th century. It was an important trading post that linked ancient Sudan with Marrakech on one of several trans-Saharan trade routes. The present-day ksar was constructed in the 17th century, and it gained strategic importance in North Africa. The town is named after its founder, Ben Haddou, who established a tribe here in 757).
